Hi Steve
After the conversation we had a time back I wrote to Heiko Lange about this and here is my question and hes answer.

Hi Heiko
I am one of the big fans of your bikes, and I have a little qustion for you, because I think you are the right guy to answer me.
Is it possible to shorten the rearshock by cutting the springs down for 3-4 cm?
If it is possible , howe do you deasamble the shock?
Take care

Hi Odar!
You should not cut the springs of the shocks. Its not only not necessary, it's just no good idea. You should shorten the damper tube inside the shocks. So you have to disassemble it. You can press the springs down, for that you have to build something that will work to do it, then wind down the upper cap. Cut more M12x1,25 on the damper tube and short it after that. You can shorten it up to max.(!) 35mm.
Good Luck, Heiko
Please send me pictures of you savage, so far it is built ready.

Take care Odar
